The Fun Begins - Step One of The Dream

Today we take a big step towards our dream. Terri is home having a huge yard sale. We had been going through the house, gathering items that we no longer want or need and know that we will not be able to take them with us. It took us a couple of weeks to get prepared and we know that we will probably have to do it again at least 1 more time. I am hoping that the next time, we can just open the house up and let people pick what ever they want and make us an offer.
We actually went to an RV show on Sunday to look at some 5Th wheels just to see what's out there. Unfortunately the RV show was not a very big one and there really wasn't many 5Th wheels that would work for us or that we liked. About the only brand that peaked any interest was the Cardinal line by Forest River. But, all was not lost, cause while we were driving to and from the show we had a chance to do some planning and form a rough time line of the way we see things going. We actually had talked about selling the TT and tow truck at the yard sale but decided against that. We decided start by focusing on our debt first and get that out of the way. We hope to be done with everything except the house, TT and a little left on the truck by the end of 2010. This will free us up to start to look for or 5'er and start to get the house ready to sell sometime in 2011. Once those 2 things are complete we would move into the 5th wheel and live in the area for another year or 2 to save up a nest egg and finish other preparations. We know that we will have to work while we are on the road so we are looking at some different options of work available and opportunities that we may be able to do with our current jobs (if any one has some suggestions, let us know). Our original target date was 10/7/2012 and we are shooting for that, we may just have to extend it a little longer if needed. We know that it will be worth it and we want to make sure that nothing stops us from living this dream.
Well I will try and keep you updated of our progress as we go along. Oh yeah, you may actually get to read Terri's perspective as she has said that she would like to blog. She likes to write and I personally think she does a good job.

Getting Ready

Had a great week at RV Dreams Rally. We learned alot and now know that we still have a lot of things to do before we hit the road for full time. We met alot of friendly helpful people and that makes us want to get started even quicker. Thanks again to Howard and Linda for a Great Week

Happy New Year !!!

Wow, the start of another year and another decade. My Mom always said that the older I get the faster the time will go by. I can't believe that it is 2010 already. Seems like Yesterday that I was a kid and amazed at the start of the Bicentennial New Year in 1976. I remember thinking that the year 2000 was so far away. Then the year 2000 came along with all the worries of the new millennium (so much worry and fuss for nothing). Now here we are 10 years later. Right now it is hard for Terri and I not to wish the time would go faster as we have the worst case of Hitch Itch. Yet we know that you can not wish your life away and that you really need to enjoy each day, one day at a time. Our chance will be here before we know it. So with that said, my wife and I would like to wish all of you a very Happy New Year. May 2010 be great to you and yours. This is the year of preparations for us. Our time will be here before we know it.

Our First BIG Step

Wow, it has been quite a while since we have posted anything. Time sure does seem to fly by when you are busy with the hectic thing we call life. I know that I SO look forward to getting on the road and enjoying the slower pace to come. We have taken our first big step. Meet our brand new 2010 Ford F-350 Dually. She is pearl blue with a tan stripe on the bottom. We really got a great deal and have more options on it then we could have ever asked for. It includes the SYNC entertainment center which includes a navigation system. It has power everything, including memory postions for the seats/mirors and pedals. It is all leather interior with heated seats, dual climate zones and on and on. The power is provided by a 6.4L diesel motor. She is capable of pulling an 18,000 lbs fifth wheel which is more then we will need for the fifth wheel that we want. We have never owned a brand new vehicle in our life and we should be able to have this one for years to come. The other great thing is Ter
